REFLECTION

Experience :
The Application Design 1 module has been an exciting and rewarding experience, especially as a core subject in the UI/UX Specialisation that I had been looking forward to. With prior experience in Figma, I was eager to refine my design skills, and this module provided exactly that. The structured journey from project proposal to the creation of a comprehensive UI/UX document, followed by the development of low-fidelity (low-fi) and high-fidelity (hi-fi) prototypes, allowed me to experience the complete UI/UX design process. I particularly enjoyed conducting user research and testing, as these activities provided valuable insights that shaped my design decisions and made the final prototype more user-friendly. Overall, this module gave me the opportunity to apply both creative and analytical skills, which made the entire process highly rewarding.

Observations :
One of the key observations I made during this module was the importance of iteration and incorporating feedback loops. The low-fi prototyping phase stood out because it helped me focus on the core functionality and user flow before considering aesthetic elements. Usability testing at this stage highlighted several user pain points that I had overlooked during the initial design phase. Another key observation was how crucial branding consistency is in UI/UX design. By aligning the typography, color scheme, and overall visual identity with the brand, I was able to create a cohesive and recognizable interface.

Findings :
Through this module, I discovered new approaches to using Figma that significantly improved my workflow. For instance, I learned how to implement interactive components and transitions, which added a layer of realism to my hi-fi prototype and enhanced the user experience. I also became more adept at using plugins to automate tasks and achieve pixel-perfect designs. These findings deepened my technical knowledge and reinforced the importance of storytelling in UI/UX design. Every element in the prototype needed to serve a purpose, contributing to a seamless user journey. I would also like to sincerely thank Mr. Zeon for his invaluable guidance and feedback throughout this module. His advice helped me improve my designs and strengthened my understanding of effective UI/UX design principles.
